My current work is ultimately inspired by
the Australian outback landscape and have spent much of the last few years
studying the Kimberley region of Western Australia. I create paintings
reflecting the alien landscapes I have experienced, seeing the land
abstracted in natural pattern formations of vivid colours and textures.
From 1998 to 2002 I worked as a Freelance
Illustrator in London. Companies included Thermos, IBM and Ingram Micro,
ranging from editorial to advertising and packaging. In addition I wrote
and illustrated a children’s book.
In 2002 I took a career break to travel
around the world to experience different cultures, traversing China,
Singapore, Indonesia, New Zealand, Fiji and Australia. The latter had an
enormous effect on my creativity and drew me to the canvas to work as a
painter.
During the last
4
years I have completed a
number of commissions and exhibited in private galleries in both the U.K.
and Australia.
After
spending much of 2006 in Perth working with prominent W.A. artists at
Robertson Park Art Studio, I am currently residing in Victoria.
